【Visiting the ONE 360 Sunty International Construction Site: Bringing Lessons from the Field into Our Designs】

We thank Mr. Hsu Chen-yu, Deputy Manager at New Dongyang Construction, for inviting the JSID/Joseph Chan Architects & Associates team to visit the ONE 360 Sunty International construction site. The visit gave us an opportunity to see the SI construction method (Skeleton Infill, which separates the structural frame from the infill) in practice and hear how the project team addressed challenges during construction.

This method treats a building’s structure and its interior systems and finishes as separate components. It allows greater flexibility for future use, maintenance, and renovation. Seeing how the concept is carried out on site gave our design team an understanding that drawings alone cannot provide.

We were equally impressed by the construction team’s approach to solving problems. Bringing a building from design to completion means responding to site conditions and working across disciplines to find practical solutions. The visit reminded us to consider construction, everyday use, and long-term maintenance together from the earliest stages of design.

Our thanks again to Mr. Hsu and the New Dongyang Construction team for their invitation and generous sharing of experience. We will carry what we learned on site into future projects, making our designs more grounded in practice and more responsive to the long-term needs of the people who use them.
