Vocational school

Located in Yangon, Myanmar, this vocational school is envisioned as a modern educational campus that integrates learning, community, and sustainability. The design concept is guided by the principle of “Campus as a City, Learning as a Way of Life.”

1. Axis and Order

The campus is organized along a clear central axis that connects the main functional zones, including academic blocks, workshops, sports facilities, and the administrative center. This spatial arrangement creates a sense of order while the central plaza and pedestrian pathways foster interaction and knowledge sharing.

2. Ecology and Sustainability

Surrounded by green belts, the campus blends architecture with landscape. Green roofs and courtyards introduce natural light and ventilation, reducing energy consumption while providing a comfortable learning environment. Rainwater harvesting and ecological preservation strategies further reinforce the vision of a sustainable campus.

3. Cultural Translation

At the heart of the campus stands a symbolic conical building inspired by the traditional Burmese pagoda. This cultural reference is reinterpreted into a contemporary architectural language, serving as the spiritual landmark of the school. It embodies local identity while encouraging students to find balance between tradition and modernity.

4. Community Integration

The school is designed to serve not only students and faculty but also the surrounding community. Facilities such as the sports field, auditorium, and public plazas are envisioned as shared spaces, making the campus an active part of daily urban life and strengthening the bond between school and city.

Through these design principles, the vocational school in Yangon becomes more than a place for technical education—it emerges as a symbol of knowledge, culture, and sustainable development in the urban fabric.
