The Floating Realm

The Cloud Realm Residence originates from a renewed inquiry into contemporary high-end mountain living and the spatial spirit of Eastern dwelling. Located within the prestigious Anyara Hills residential district in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the site faces the lake and extends along the hillside, offering elevated views, layered terrain, and rich natural scenery.

In response to the growing standardization, image-driven expression, and symbolic superficiality of global luxury housing, this project proposes a mountain residence prototype with cultural depth. Rather than directly transplanting the traditional courtyard house into an overseas context, the design extracts the essence of the “courtyard” as a symbol of family cohesion, inward stability, and ethical order. It is then combined with the image of the “cloud,” which represents freedom, fluidity, and spiritual transcendence. Together, they form the conceptual framework of a vertical superimposition between “heaven” and “earthly life.”

The project therefore responds not only to the needs of a single residence, but also proposes a future vision of dwelling that integrates Eastern sensibility, contemporary living, and coexistence with nature.
